YCN Boards

So far.. waiting for Sarah's feedback.

Starting/Finishing YCN..

Me and sarah got together to get the YCN brief as finished as possible to submit to YCN. We had a plan of what we needed to do and how we were going to do it.

Started off by getting the images for each of the jars as we couldn't find any in the pack that was on the YCN website. We needed to cut around each one so that they could be used on the advertisements.

We had decided that depending on the strength of the coffee there would be a different weight for the typeface.

We worked together to come up with different situations in which you would really need a coffee, most of them are based around a daily routine, mostly likely at work, which made sense according to who the target audience was. As mentioned each situation is dependent on how strong the coffee will be.

Thinking of the different ways you could have the jars of coffee on the advertisements, not only to showcase that strength but all the others too.

It took a while to find the best layout, me and Sarah both had an idea of how we wanted it too look but it just didn't seem to be working as we thought it would.

We then decided that there needed to be colour, so we picked the colours according to the current packaging for each of the strengths, they're not the most engaging colours but as they're the packaging colours it made sense to use them rather than just picking random colours.

Whilst Sarah was on the phone to her mam I started messing about with the effects in illustrator and thats when we found the scribble..

It added a bit more to the design and it just seemed to work, almost in the way that you're trying to relate to something and it's kind of scratched away, rather than just being perfect. I dont know it made sense at the time.

The advertisements had to work in a range of different places and someone of the quotes fitted certain places really well.

NOOOOOOOOOOO!

Although a really simple layout in the end, the idea works really well, as it showcases all of the strengths through the image yet each situation is quite easy to relate and the range of different advertisements showcase how it could be displayed in different ways, from billboards, to bus shelters and magazines.
